Scan and pair a printer

Learn how to add and delete a printer on the Eats365 POS or on the Merchant Portal.

Note: For a list of compatible printers, refer to List of compatible devices.

Printers create physical prints of different records, such as receipts, job orders, checks, reports, and more. 

In this article, you’ll learn how to add and delete a printer on the POS and the Merchant Portal.

Add a printer

To scan and pair a printer, follow the steps below:

Eats365 POS

  1. Make sure to turn on the printer and connect it to the same network as the POS.
  2. Log in to the Eats365 POS.
  3. At the top left, tap Settings .
  4. To detect any supported printers in the same network, under General, tap Printer Setup. Then select Scan printers. All newly detected printers appear on the left panel along with the New indicator below the printer name.
  5. To add printers manually, tap . Then, select the type of printer you want to add.
  6. Enter a name for the printer to make it easily identifiable. Then, enter the printer’s IP address.
    Tip: If you don't have the printer's IP address available, refer to your printer's user manual or contact the printer's manufacturer.
  7. Tap Test to verify if you’ve connected to the correct printer. A test slip is printed on the selected printer to help you confirm if the correct printer is paired.
  8. Configure the printer’s settings based on your preferences.
  9. Tap Pair Device to connect.

Merchant Portal 2.0

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings.
  3. Click on Printer List.
  4. At the top right, click on Add Printer.
  5. Enter the printer’s details.
    • Printer Name - Enter a name for the printer to make it easily identifiable
    • Printer Brand - If you don’t know the printer brand, refer to your printer’s user manual.
    • Printer Model - If you don’t know the printer model, refer to your printer’s user manual.
    • Printer Type - If you don’t know the printer type, refer to your printer’s user manual.
    • Mac Address - If you don't know the printer's Mac Address, contact the printer's manufacturer.
    • Port Name - If you don't know the printer's port name, contact the printer's manufacturer.
  6. Click on Save to confirm.

Configure a printer

To configure your printer, follow the steps below:

Eats365 POS

  1. Log in to the Eats365 POS.
  2. At the top left, tap Settings .
  3. To detect any supported printers in the same network, under General, tap Printer Setup.
  4. Select the printer that you want to configure. To identify if you’ve chosen the correct printer, tap Test. The corresponding printer prints a test slip.
  5. Once you’ve identified the correct printer, you may change the following settings: 
    • Add a printer name.
    • Select a Printer Paper Width.
    • Select the Fallback Printer to use if the current printer fails to print.
    • (Optional) To set the printer as the default, turn on Set as Default Printer .
      Note: Enabling this feature prints the customer’s receipts from orders made on other apps, such as mPOS and Photo Menu, from tables that aren’t specified under the Table Partitions tab. 
    • (Optional) If you have an external buzzer connected to your printer, toggle Enable Buzzer  to be notified when a new receipt prints.
    • Under Supported Orders, turn on Print Order from All Sources  to print all supported orders regardless of source. Turn this setting off, if you want to configure the printer to print different tickets depending on the source.  
    • Under Supported Printing Types, choose from the following types you’d like your printer to perform:
      • Bill/Receipt: Designates the printer to print Dine-in, Takeout, and Catering order receipts. To configure the receipt printer further, refer to Printing settings.
      • Order Ticket: Designates the printer to print a list of Menu Items that have been ordered from a specific table.
      • Kitchen Ticket: Designates the printer to print Kitchen Tickets based on the Kitchen Station selected.
      • Expeditor Ticket: Designates the printer to print the expeditor list.
      • Queue Ticket: Designates the printer to print Queue Tickets.
      • Report: Designates the printer to print a Shift Report and a Daily Closing Report.
      • Till Control: Opens the cash drawer automatically when a check is settled using any tender with the Open Till option enabled.
    • (Optional) Tap Table Partitions. Then, select the tables you want to associate with this printer.
  6. Tap Save to complete the setup.

Tip: You can repeat the steps above until you have paired all your printers.

Merchant Portal (Classic)

Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Experience Merchant Portal 2.0.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings.
  3. Click on Printer List.
  4. Next to the printer that you want to configure, click on View.
  5. You can configure the following settings: 
    • Add a printer name.
    • Select the Fallback Printer to use if the current printer fails to print.
    • Under Supported Orders, select the order source that the printer can print. You can choose either: 
      • Print Order from All Sources - Print all supported orders regardless of source. 
      • Print general orders and user app/website’s orders separately - Configure the printer to print different ticket types depending on the source.  
    • Under Supported Printing Types, choose from the following types you’d like your printer to perform:
      • Bill/Receipt: Designates the printer to print Dine-in,Takeout, and Catering order receipts. To configure the receipt printer further, refer to Printing settings.
      • Order Ticket: Designates the printer to print a list of Menu Items that have been ordered from a specific table.
      • Kitchen Ticket: Designates the printer to print Kitchen Tickets based on the Kitchen Station selected.
      • Expeditor Ticket: Designates the printer to print the expeditor list.
      • Till Control: Opens the cash drawer automatically when a check is settled using any tender with the Open Till option enabled. 
      • Queuing Ticket: Designates the printer to print Queue Tickets.
      • Report: Designates the printer to print a Shift Report and a Daily Closing Report.
  6. (Optional) Click on Table Partitions tab, select the tables you want to associate with this printer. 
  7. Click on Save to confirm.

Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Back to Classic Theme.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings.
  3. Click on Printer List.
  4. Next to the printer that you want to configure, click on View.
  5. You can configure the following settings: 
    • Add a printer name.
    • Select the printer brand.
    • Select the printer model.
    • Select the printer type.
    • Add the Mac Address.
    • Add the port name.
    • Select the Fallback Printer to use if the current printer fails to print.
    • Under Supported Orders, select the order source that the printer can print. You can choose either: 
      • Print Order from All Sources - Print all supported orders regardless of source. 
      • Print general orders and user app or website’s orders separately - Configure the printer to print different ticket types depending on the source.  
    • Under Supported Printing Types, choose from the following types you’d like your printer to perform:
      • Bill/Receipt: Designates the printer to print Dine-in,Takeout, and Catering order receipts. To configure the receipt printer further, refer to Printing settings.
      • Order Ticket: Designates the printer to print a list of Menu Items that have been ordered from a specific table.

  6. (Optional) Click on Table Partitions tab, select the tables you want to associate with this printer. 
  7. Click on Save to confirm.

Delete a printer

To remove a printer, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the Eats365 POS.
  2. At the top left, tap Settings .
  3. Under General, tap Printer Setup.
  4. Choose a printer that you want to delete.
  5. Select Delete Printer.
