Calculation for Tax Inclusive Environment

Apply Service Charge after Excluding Tax Portion

Delete

Note: This feature only applies to tax-inclusive restaurants.

A “tax-inclusive environment” refer to restaurants where the item prices already include tax. In a tax-inclusive environment, service charge may be applied to the total bill, including the added tax.

If “Apply Service Charge after Excluding Tax Portion” is enabled, tax will be removed from the total bill first before applying service charge. In this case, tax won’t be included in the calculation of service charge.

Sample computation:

A customer’s order total is $100, including tax.

  • Disabled: Service charge is calculated on the total bill amount of $100, including tax.
  • Enabled: Service charge is calculated only on the item’s price excluding the tax ($100 - tax). This means tax is deducted from the total before the service charge is applied.
