Set up and manage Adyen P400 Plus terminal (365pay)
Learn how to set up the Adyen P400 Plus terminal for 365pay payment processing and manage the terminal after setup.
In this article, you'll learn how to complete the P400 Plus terminal setup, test the terminal and POS connection, and access terminal settings after setup.
Before you start
Check the hardware contents
Before initiating the setup, check that your P400 Plus terminal has complete inclusions:
- P400 Plus payment terminal
- Power supply
- Accessories, depending on the connection type (Example: Ethernet dongle)
- Privacy shield
Inspect the terminal
Payment terminals handle sensitive cardholder data. Before use, ensure that the terminal you received is the correct device supplied by Adyen and that it shows no signs of tampering or unauthorized modification. To do this, follow the steps below:
- Check if the shipping box containing the terminal has not been opened. The tamper-evident security packing tape should be intact.
- Check your order information.
- Log in to the Adyen Customer Area. Then, navigate to In-person payments
Orders and returns and find the order for your terminal.
- Verify that the serial number (S/N) printed on the box is the same as in the Customer Area.
- Use the “Track & Trace” link to check the shipment status with the carrier and confirm that the payment terminal has been successfully delivered.
- Log in to the Adyen Customer Area. Then, navigate to In-person payments
- Remove the payment terminal from the box and confirm that the serial number (S/N) on the device matches the serial number printed on the box.
- Inspect the terminal for signs of tampering. Check for missing screws, additional wires or labels, holes in the device, and anything inserted in or attached to any part of the terminal.

Set up the P400 Plus terminal
Once you've verified that there are no issues with the payment terminal, you may proceed with the hardware setup. To configure the P400 Plus for the first time, follow the steps below:
- Power on the P400 Plus terminal. Refer to "Step 1. Power on the terminal" below for instructions.
- Select Configure network. Refer to "Step 2. Connect the terminal to your network" below for instructions.
- Select the Board the terminal, select your store, and select Confirm. Boarding can take up to 30 minutes.
Important: If "Board the terminal" doesn't show, wait until the next synchronization with the Adyen platform (on average, 3 hours) and try again. - Test the connection with the Adyen platform. Refer to "Step 3. Test the payments platform connection" below for instructions.
- Test the connection with the Eats365 POS system. Refer to "Step 4. Test the POS system connection" below for instructions.
When you have completed these steps, you are ready to process 365pay payments through the Eats365 POS.
1. Power on the terminal
To turn on the P400 Plus terminal, follow the steps below:
- Open the cover on the back of the terminal, connect the dongle cable, then close the cover.
- Tighten the cam lock screw on the back cover (if present) to help prevent damage to the cable connector caused by pulling the cable.
- Turn on the terminal by connecting it to a power source. During startup, the display turns on and off a few times.
2. Connect the terminal to your network
Connect your P400 Plus terminal to the internet to allow communication between the terminal and the payments platform. You can choose to connect it through Wi-Fi (wireless) or LAN (wired).
Wi-Fi
To connect the P400 Plus terminal to the internet via Wi-Fi, follow the steps below:
- On the terminal display, select Configure network.
- Select Wi-Fi.
- Turn on the Wi-Fi toggle switch.
- To add a network, select the "+" button. The terminal scans for Wi-Fi networks.
- Choose the desired network from the list and enter the Wi-Fi password, or select Add manually and enter the name (SSID) of the Wi-Fi network and the Wi-Fi password.
- Select the check mark to confirm. The terminal sets the network as the default automatically and connects to it.
If the connection is successful, a Wi-Fi icon will appear at the top of the display.
LAN (with Ethernet cable)
To connect your terminal to the internet through LAN, you must have an Ethernet cable.
Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into your router or switch. Then, connect the other end into the Ethernet (LAN) port on the dongle. This port is marked with "ETH" or this symbol:
3. Test the payments platform connection
Payments are processed on the Adyen payments platform. To test the connection with that platform, follow the steps below:
- Select Settings
Diagnostics
PSP connection.
- Check if the Status is "Successful." You can also select View results and check if all items have a green check mark
. If "Receiving data" has a red cross
and the result is "No Error", the terminal successfully connected with the Adyen platform.
4. Test the POS system connection
To ensure that the payment terminal is connected successfully to the Eats365 POS, follow the steps below:
- Select Settings
Diagnostics
Terminal API.
- Check if the Status is "Successful." You can also select View results and check if all items have a green check mark

- Select Cancel to go back to "Diagnostics," and select Endpoints. The terminal runs tests on four URLs and then shows a final screen.
- Check if the Status is "Successful," or select View results to check whether all four URLs in the final screen have a green check mark
.
Manage the P400 Plus terminal
Power on the P400 Plus payment terminal after a prolonged shutdown
If your P400 Plus payment terminal has been turned off for some time or you're just turning it on for the first time, it may make a maintenance call to synchronize the configuration and update the software. This can take 10 to 20 minutes.
Turn on the P400 Plus terminal
Connect the terminal to a power supply. During startup, the display turns on and off a few times.
Turn off the P400 Plus terminal
Disconnect the terminal from the power supply.
Reboot the terminal
- Go to Settings and select Power.
- Enter your passcode.
- Select Restart and confirm.
Configure P400 Plus payment terminal settings
Your Adyen payment terminal has a menu with options related to payments and configuration. Some menu options are protected by passcodes. Refer to the list below for the menu settings and corresponding passcode requirement:

Payment 
Allows you to start a normal payment when used as a standalone terminal. The "Payment" menu setting doesn't require a passcode.
Access device information
To view information about the terminal, on the payment terminal, select Settings Device info.
The "Device info" screen shows the following information:
- The model, serial number, and IP address of the terminal.
- The software version currently used by the terminal.
- The merchant account that the terminal belongs to.
- The store that the terminal is boarded to, and its address.
- A button to show a QR code with device info.
Note: You may be asked to scan the QR code as per the instructions of the support team.
