Compare Discount 1.0 and Discount 2.0 functions

Learn about the differences in the functionalities and creation process of Discount 1.0 and Discount 2.0.

Before Discount 2.0 (through Eats365 POS version 2.73 or later), the Discount 1.0 framework allowed merchants to create discounts using pre-determined classifications such as Merchant Discount and User App Discount. While Discount 1.0 and 2.0 use the same discounting logic, Discount 2.0 introduces a significantly more streamlined and enhanced system for managing discounts. Key improvements include a simplified creation process, greater flexibility in setting discount restrictions, granular control over module settings, and more.

When you migrate to Discount 2.0, all existing discounts (active, inactive, and expired) migrate to the Discount 2.0 system. The system automatically matches the discount’s configured settings to their applicable counterparts in Discount 2.0. However, reconfiguring discounts after migration is recommended for best results and to align with the new framework.

Delete

Important: Migrating to Discount 2.0 is optional and NOT REVERSIBLE. The Discount 1.0 system will continue to be supported for the time being. However, Discount 1.0 system will not receive future enhancements or new discount features.

In this article, you’ll learn about the key differences between Discount 1.0 and Discount 2.0.

Discount 2.0 new features

The Discount 2.0 system offers the following additional functions:

General enhancements

  • Simplified discount categorization: Discount 2.0 standardizes discount creation with a more centralized and straightforward discount management system. Additionally, it introduces a “Zero Value Discount” for third-party discounts or non-monetary offers like free parking coupons.
  • Improved discount management: All discounts are now placed in one centralized list and separated by folder. Key details of the discount, such as tags and availability, can also be conveniently shown on the Merchant Portal’s Discount 2.0 home page.
  • Discount grouping: Group discounts to define interaction rules. For example, you can set whether “Discount A” can be used with “Discount B” and so on.
  • Discount type organization: Organize discounts by classification using optional Discount Folders. For example, create a “Seasonal” folder for season-specific deals to easily find and reactivate them each season.
  • Discount tagging: Tags can be assigned to discounts to enable advanced filtering and searching.
  • Granular control over discount application: Define specific conditions like platform eligibility and effective quantity limits.
  • Enhanced discount usage restrictions: Set discount limit settings using non-stackable restrictions, Discount Group-level conflict rules, and module-specific applicability.

Eats365 POS

  • Revamped discount user interface: The POS discount interface and workflow now include Discount Folders and Discount Tags, providing clear visual organizational tools and an advanced search function.
  • Improved discount workflow: Discount 2.0 offers easier list navigation, targeted searches, simultaneous selection of multiple discounts, and more.

Branded Online Store

  • Using discounts in “Pay Later” Scan to Order (Bring Your Own Device) transactions: Discount 2.0 allows discounts to apply to “Pay Later” orders placed through Scan to Order (BYOD), enabling promotions for more dine-in customers.
  • Proactive display of available discounts: Discounts, regardless of eligibility, can be shown to customers to share ongoing promotions and maximize potential sales through up-selling depending on your configured settings. The “Promotions” page displays discounts, like applied coupons, available promotions (based on cart contents), and unfulfilled discounts. Eligible orders clearly indicate discount applicability, simplifying the discount application process.
  • Display discount promotional image: Add promotional images to visually highlight active offers.
