Set up and manage currencies

Learn how to add currencies accepted by your restaurant using the Merchant Portal.

Currency Exchange allows you to add foreign currency options to the Eats365 POS and easily convert the total amount of an order to the selected currency’s rate. 

In this article, you’ll learn how to add currencies individually or in bulk, and how to edit and delete currencies on the Merchant Portal.

Note: Currency Exchange can only be used with cash transactions.

Turn on Currency Exchange

To enable Currency Exchange, follow the steps below:

Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Experience Merchant Portal 2.0.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings. Then, click on Payment Settings.
  3. Under "Currency Exchange," turn on Enable Currency Exchange .

Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Back to Classic Theme.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings. 
  3. Click on Payment Settings. Then, select Currency Exchange.
  4. Turn on Enable Currency Exchange .
  5. At the top right, click on Save.

Add a currency

To add currency options, follow the steps below:

Note: By default, a currency is automatically selected as the default based on your registered region.

Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Experience Merchant Portal 2.0.

Individual currency

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings. Then, click on Payment Settings.
  3. Under "Currency Exchange," click on + Add New. 
  4. Click on the drop-down menu and choose a currency from the list.
  5. Enter the following information:
    • Name on POS - Enter the currency name that appears on the payment page.
    • Rate - Enter the exchange rate of the currency.
      Tip: Use the current exchange rate relative to your restaurant’s default currency. For example, if your default currency is Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) and you’re adding United States Dollar (USD) as an option, determine the current exchange rate of HKD to USD and input that value.
  6. At the bottom, click on Save.

Multiple currencies

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings. Then, click on Payment Settings.
  3. Under "Currency Exchange," click on Import.
  4. Download the template.
  5. Open the XLS file and enter the following information:
    • ISO Code - ISO Codes are the alphabetic code for each currency. You can check the ISO Standards website for the list of current ISO Currency Codes. Alternatively, you can also refer to the list of currencies when you click on + New Currency.
    • Name on POS - Enter the currency name that appears on the payment page.
    • Rate - Enter the exchange rate of the currency.
      Tip: Use the current exchange rate relative to your restaurant’s default currency. For example, if your default currency is Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) and you’re adding United States Dollar (USD) as an option, determine the current exchange rate of HKD to USD and input that value.
  6. Save the file.
  7. On the Merchant Portal, upload the XLS file. Then, click on Submit.

Individual currency

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings. 
  3. Click on Payment Settings. Then, select Currency Exchange.
  4. Click on + New Currency. 
  5. Click on the Currency drop-down list and choose a currency.
  6. Enter the following information:
    • Name on POS - Enter the currency name that appears on the payment page.
    • Rate - Enter the exchange rate of the currency.
      Tip: Use the current exchange rate relative to your restaurant’s default currency. For example, if your default currency is Hong Kong Dollar (HKD) and you’re adding United States Dollar (USD) as an option, determine the current exchange rate of HKD to USD and input that value.
  7. At the top right, click on Save.

Multiple currencies

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings. 
  3. Click on Payment Settings. Then, select Currency Exchange.
  4. Click on Export Table. This downloads an XLS file on your computer.
  5. Open the XLS file and enter the following information:

  7. On the Merchant Portal, under "Importing Tool," upload the XLS file.
  8. Click on Import Table.

Edit a currency

To update a currency, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings. Then, click on Payment Settings.
  3. Under "Currency Exchange," modify the Currency, Name on POS, and Rate of the existing currency option that you’d like to update.
  4. At the bottom, click on Save.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings. 
  3. Click on Payment Settings. Then, select Currency Exchange.
  4. Modify the Currency, Name on POS, and Rate of the existing currency option that you’d like to update.
  5. At the top right, click on Save.

To remove a currency, follow the steps below:

  2. On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings. Then, click on Payment Settings.
  3. Under "Currency Exchange," select the currency that you’d like to delete.
  4. Next to the currency, click on Delete.
  5. At the bottom, click on Save.

  5. At the top right, click on Save.
