Adyen Payment Terminal battery and charging issues

Learn how to troubleshoot power-related issues on Adyen payment terminals.

If your Adyen payment terminal is experiencing power or battery-related problems, such as the battery not charging properly or the charger malfunctioning, you may perform the basic troubleshooting steps below to resolve them.

Indicators

  • The payment terminal doesn't charge properly or doesn't charge at all
  • The battery isn’t charging
  • The payment terminal doesn’t turn on

Common causes

  • The battery needs a replacement
  • The charger may be faulty
  • The power connector on the payment terminal may be faulty

Troubleshooting

To troubleshoot the issue, follow the steps below:

Battery issue

  1. Check if the payment terminal has been charged properly. 
    1. Make sure that the terminal is charged for at least 30 minutes before you start using it.
    2. If the battery is still not charging, try connecting the terminal to a different charger.
  2. Remove the battery from the payment terminal. 
    Note: This step applies to terminals that have a removable battery.
    1. From the back of the payment terminal, remove the battery cover.
    2. Take out the battery.
    3. Check that the space between the battery connector and the terminal is clear of dust and debris.
    4. Put the battery back in the payment terminal.
    5. Restart the payment terminal. To do this, press and hold the Confirm button for at least three seconds.
    6. Charge the battery using a different charger. If the battery still doesn't charge, contact Eats365 ServiceDesk.
  3. Replace the battery.
    Note: This step applies to terminals that have a removable battery.
    1. From the back of the payment terminal, remove the battery cover.
    2. Take out the battery.
    3. Replace the old battery with a new one.
    4. Restart the payment terminal. To do this, press and hold the Confirm button for at least three seconds.
    5. Charge the replacement battery using a different charger. If the problem persists after installing a new battery with a full charge, your payment terminal may need to be replaced.

Charger issue

  1. Check the charger.
    1. Check whether the charger works with other similar payment terminals.
    2. Check that the connectors on the charger and the payment terminal are clear of dust or debris.
  2. Restart the payment terminal. To do this, you may do any of the following:
    1. Turn off the terminal, then turn it on again.
    2. For tethered terminals or terminals without a battery: open the "Admin" menu and select Reboot. You may also unplug and reconnect the power cord.
    3. For payment terminals with a removable battery: press and hold the Confirm button for at least three seconds.
  3. Check whether the charger is now charging the battery.

Issue not resolved

If you’re still experiencing power-related issues after trying these steps, your payment terminal or charger may need to be replaced. Please contact the Eats365 ServiceDesk for assistance.
