Set up and manage a Combo Item

Learn how to create and manage Combo Items on the Eats365 POS or on the Merchant Portal.

A Combo Item is a menu option that contains two or more Menu Items as a set at a discounted price.

Delete

Important: Before you add items to your Combo menu, make sure you’ve already set up the following settings first. Otherwise, you won’t be able to configure these settings on the Items page.

  • Category
  • At least two Single Items
  • Product Type and Sub Product Type
  • Tax Group
  • Tier Prices

Add a Combo Item

To add a Combo Item to your menu, follow the steps below:

Eats365 POS

  1. Log in to the Eats365 POS. 
  2. At the top left, tap Settings .
  3. Under General, tap Menu Setup, then select Item.
  4. At the top right, tap Add Item.
  5. Select Combo Item as the Item Type.
  6. Enter your Combo Item’s information and your preferred settings. 
    Note: You can add a name and description in another language by changing the language setting.
  7. At the top right, tap Save to confirm.

You can add your Combo Item’s information or change these settings on the POS:

General

Upload image

Upload an image of your Item.

Language

Set the language for the menu Item.

Tip: For multi-language menus, add an Item Name and Description for your default language, then choose another language you support and add the Item’s Name and Description for the additional selected language.

Type

Select if you want your Item to be a Single Item or a Combo Item.

Description (Optional)

Add a description of your Item.

Simplified Name

This setting allows you to create a simplified name for your Item. Simplified names are used when printing Kitchen Tickets.

Product Type

Select the Product Type to which your Item belongs.

Note: If you haven’t created a Product Type, this setting only shows Product Type presets.  

Sub Product Type

Select the Sub Product Type to which your Item belongs.

Note: If you haven’t created a Sub Product Type, this setting appears as N/A. There are no Sub Product Type presets available on the POS.  

Tax Group

This setting allows you to add a Tax Group to your Item. Note: If you haven’t created a Tax Group, this setting appears as N/A.

Category

Select the Category to which your Item belongs. Important: You must create a Category first before creating your Item. Otherwise, you won’t be able to complete the setup.

Product Code (SKU)

Set a specific Product Code to your Item.

Note: The Product Code should be unique and shouldn’t have any duplicates.

Item Code

Set a specific Item Code to your item.

Note: The Item Code should be unique and shouldn’t have any duplicates.

Item Barcode

Add your Item’s barcode.

Note: The Item Barcode should be unique and shouldn’t have any duplicates.

Reporting ID

Set a specific Reporting ID for your Item.

Excluded from Discount

When turned on, you won’t be able to apply any discount to this Item.

Waive Service Charge

When turned on, service charge will not apply to this item by default.

All You Can Eat Menu Item

When turned on, this Item only appears in Scan to Order - All You Can Eat mode.

Available Date

Select the Start and End date for the availability of your Item.

Dining Type

Select if the Item is a Dine-In & Takeout Item, or a Catering Item.

Available for

Select if you want your Item to be available for Dine-In or Takeout.

Crossday Pre-Order

When turned on, the Item will be available for next operation period pre-order.

List Price

Set how much you want to sell your Item. You can set different prices for Dine-In and Takeout.

Tier Prices

Tier Pricing Rules allow you to define different pricing rules for your Menu Items based on the time, day, or by supported Integrated Delivery Platforms.

Recommended

When turned on, your Item appears larger on the Eats365 Photo Menu.

Inventory Tracking

When turned on, you can limit the number of Items sold. The Item appears as sold out in the POS when the quantity of the Item reaches zero.

Note: After making changes, tap the Update button below Available Quantity. Otherwise, the POS won’t save the changes.

Category’s Permission

This setting shows you the permissions set on the Category to which you’ve assigned your Item.

Access Permission

Turn on or off access from applications.

Tip: You can choose to enable or disable access to all applications simultaneously. However, it’s recommended that you enable or disable access to each application individually.

Role Access Permission

Turn on or off access for different staff roles.

Delete

Tip: You can enable or disable access to all staff roles simultaneously. However, it’s recommended that you enable or disable access to each staff role individually.

Combo Options

To create options for a Combo Item, click Add Combo Option.

Enter the Combo Option details:

Option Name

Defines the name of the Combo Option.

Mandatory

When enabled, this sets the minimum and the maximum number of options that can be selected for the Combo Option.

Separate Kitchen Ticket

Turn this setting on if you want to print the Combo Option in a separate kitchen ticket.

Default Item

Determines the default item in the Combo Option. You can also choose N/A if you don’t have a preferred default.

Import a Category

To include one or more categories in this Combo Item, choose Import a Category. Then select the category you’d like to import. You can only select one category at a time. To add another category, tap Import a Category again.

On the category you selected, enter the following information:

  • Combo Discount: Sets the discount amount that is applied to either all items in the category or to specific Menu Items.
  • Default Max Allowed: Sets the default maximum number of times that the Menu Item can be chosen for the Combo Option.
  • Apply to All Items: Determines whether the Combo Discount applies to a specific Menu Item or all of the Menu Items included in the chosen category.
  • Override Price: Bypass the Combo Discount and set a fixed price for an individual Menu Item.

Import a Single Item

To include Single Items individually, choose Import a Single Item. Then select the Item you’d like to import. 

On the category you selected, enter the following information:

  • Add-on Price: Sets the price amount that is added to the base list price of a single Menu Item.
  • Max Allowed: Sets the maximum number of times the Menu Item can be chosen for the Combo Option.

After adding the Combo Option details, tap Update to confirm.

Once all the details have been added to General, Additional Details, and Combo Options, tap Save to create the Combo Option.

Merchant Portal (Classic Theme)

Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Experience Merchant Portal 2.0.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal. 
  2. Click on Menu Setup, then select Item.
  3. At the top right, click on +Combo Item.
  4. Select Combo as the Item Type.
  5. (Optional) You may choose a language for your Combo Item, but it’s recommended to follow system defaults.
  6. Fill out your Combo Item’s information and your preferred settings.
  7. At the top right, tap Save to confirm. 

You can add your Combo Item’s information or change these settings on the POS:

General

Basic information

Upload image

Upload an image of your Item.

Language

You may choose a language for your Item, but it’s recommended to follow system defaults.

Type

Select if you want your Item to be a Single Item or a Combo Item.

Description (Optional)

Add a description of your Item.

Simplified Name

This setting allows you to create a simplified name for your Item. Simplified names are used when printing on Kitchen Tickets.

Product Type

Select the Product Type to which your Item belongs.

  2. On the left panel, click on Menu Setup, then select Item.

  4. Select Combo as the Item Type.
  5. Fill out your Combo Item’s information and your preferred settings.
  6. At the top right, click on Save to confirm. 

You can add your Combo Item’s information or change these settings on the POS:

Item image

Upload an image of your Item.

Type

Select if you want your Item to be a Single Item or a Combo Item.

Name

Enter your preferred Item Name. You can set a different name per language. 

Description (Optional)

Enter the Item description. You can set a different name per language.

  5. Update your Combo Item.
  6. At the top right, tap Update to confirm.

  1. Log in to the Eats365 POS. 
  2. At the top left, tap Settings .
  3. Under General, tap Menu Setup, then select Item.
  4. There are two ways to delete an Item:
    • Tap the Combo Item you want to delete. At the top right, tap Delete. A prompt appears if you want to remove the Item.
    • Tap the three dots, then tap Remove. A prompt appears if you want to remove the Item.
  5. Tap Delete to confirm.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. Click on Menu Setup, then select Item.

  4. A prompt appears to confirm if you want to delete the Item. Click on Confirm.

If you want to delete multiple Combo Items simultaneously, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. Click on Menu Setup, then select Item.
  3. Next to the Items that you want to delete, click on the check box .
  4. At the top of the Items, click on Delete.
  5. A prompt appears to confirm if you want to delete the Item. Click on Confirm.

Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Back to Classic Theme.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal. 
  2. On the left panel, click on Menu Setup, then select Item.
  3. Next to the Items that you want to delete, click on the check box .
  4. From the bulk action drop-down list, click on Delete.
  5. A prompt appears to confirm if you want to delete the Item. Click on Confirm.

Create a copy of a Combo Item

Creating a copy of your Combo Item is necessary in order to move your Combo Item to a different category. You won’t be able to do so unless you create a copy of your Combo Item. Once a Combo Item has been saved under a category, you won’t be able to change it from the Item page.

To create a copy of your Item, follow the steps below:

Eats365 POS

  1. Log in to the Eats365 POS. 
  2. At the top left, tap Settings .
  3. Under General, tap Menu Setup, then select Item.
  4. Next to the Item you want to copy, tap the three dots . Then, tap Copy to a new item .
  5. At the top right, tap Save to confirm.

Note: Make sure to update your Item’s Product Code and Item Code. An Item’s Product Code and Item Code should be unique and should not have any duplicates.

Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Experience Merchant Portal 2.0.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. Click on Menu Setup, then select Item.
  3. Select the Item that you want to edit. Then, click on Copy .
  4. Make your changes, if you have any. 
    Note: Make sure to update your Item’s Product Code and Item Code. An Item’s Product Code and Item Code should be unique and should not have any duplicates.
  5. At the top right, click on Save to confirm.

Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Back to Classic Theme.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal. 
  2. On the left panel, click on Menu Setup, then select Item.
  3. Select the Combo Item that you want to copy. Then, click on Copy.
  4. Make your changes, if you have any. 
    Note: Make sure to update your Item’s Product Code and Item Code. An Item’s Product Code and Item Code should be unique and should not have any duplicates.
  5. At the top right, click on Save to confirm.

Create a copy of multiple Items

When you create a copy of multiple Items, you’ll be able to change multiple settings on different Items simultaneously. This includes Item Category, Availability, and Roles and Permissions.

Note: Product Code, Item Code, and Item Barcode won’t be copied when you create a copy of multiple Items. You’ll need to update each one manually on their individual settings.

To create a copy of multiple Items, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal.
  2. Click on Menu Setup, then select Item.
  3. Next to the Items that you want to copy, click on the check box .
  4. At the top of the Items, click on Copy.
  5. Make your changes, if you have any.
  6. At the top right, click on Copy to confirm.

Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Back to Classic Theme.

  1. Log in to the Merchant Portal. 
  2. On the left panel, click on Menu Setup, then select Item.

  5. Make your changes, if you have any.
  6. At the top right, click on Copy to confirm.
