Set up Dynamic QR Code
Learn how to generate a Dynamic QR Code which you can use for your Scan to Order operations.
Dynamic QR Codes refer to QR Codes that change every time a ticket is printed. This type of QR Code isn’t associated with a table and cannot be reused. Once a dynamic QR Code has been scanned and payment has been made for the order associated with the QR Code, the Dynamic QR Code expires.
Tip: Dynamic QR Codes enhance security by preventing unauthorized dine-in orders from outside your restaurant. Unlike Static QR Codes, which can be copied and used remotely, Dynamic QR Codes change regularly. For example, customers may take a picture of a Static QR Code set up on your tables and use it to place an order even if they do not intend to dine in the restaurant. With a Dynamic QR Code, customers would need to be seated first, then wait staff will provide them with a printed Dynamic QR code that they can scan to place their orders.
Enable Dynamic QR Code
You can set up Dynamic QR Code on the Merchant Portal.
To turn on Dynamic QR Code, follow the steps below:
Merchant Portal (Classic Theme)
Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Experience Merchant Portal 2.0.
- Log in to the Merchant Portal.
- On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings. Then, click on Dine-In.
- Click on Scan to Order.
- Turn on Allow to Place Dine-in Order
, then Enable Scan to Order
.
- Next to Dine-In Website, select the branded online store URL that the QR code would link to.
- Configure Scan to Order settings.
- Turn on Enable Dynamic QRCode
.
- At the top right, click on Save to confirm.
Merchant Portal 2.0
Tip: To switch themes, at the top right, click on the account name. Then, select Back to Classic Theme.
- Log in to the Merchant Portal.
- On the left panel, click on Restaurant Settings. Then, click on Dine-In.
- Click on Scan to Order.
- Turn on Allow to Place Dine-in Order
then Enable Scan to Order
.
- Next to Branded Online Store Website, select the branded online store URL that the QR code would link to.
- Configure Scan to Order settings.
- Turn on Enable Dynamic QRCode
.
- At the top right, click on Save to confirm.
Once Dynamic QR Code is enabled, the QR Code is automatically printed on tickets.
