Set up pre-checkout item prompts for the Branded Online Store
Learn how to proactively present items to customers for upsell or as a reminder after they initiate checkout.
The "Upsell" feature allows you to set a prompt that proactively offers items to customers before they check out on your restaurant's Branded Online Store website. The pre-checkout item prompt can be configured to require customers to select an item or simply surface recommended items for upselling. For example, you can create a prompt for "Cutlery Request" or promote new menu items.

In this article, you'll learn how to enable the Upsell feature and create pre-checkout item prompts.
Create an Upsell item prompt
To add a pre-checkout item prompt on the Branded Online Store, follow the steps below:
- Log in to the Merchant Portal.
- On the left panel, click on Advanced Settings

Suggest Recommended Items. - Turn on Enable
.
- Under "Modules," ensure that "Online Ordering - Web App" is selected.
- Click on the Applicable Dining Modes drop-down list and select the dining modes for which you want to enable this item prompt.
- Next to "Select Items," click on Browse and select the items and categories you want to include in the item prompt.
- To require customers to select at least one item to proceed to checkout, enable Mandatory
.
- Enter your preferred Message Title for the prompt. You can add a title per language by selecting the language and entering the locale-specific message. Click on + Languages to add more.

- At the top, click on Save to confirm.
